What are the social security benefits for divorced spouses?

If you are divorced, your ex-spouse may qualify for social security benefitson your earnings. To qualify, your ex-spouse must:

  • Have been married to you for 10 years

  • Have been divorced for 2 years

  • Have reached age 62

  • Be unmarried and not be eligible for an equal or higher benefit on their own work or another spouse’s work
